Govt Praises Kansanshi for Driving Local Supplier Development in North-Western Province

Zambia Government Commends Kansanshi Mining for Local Supplier Tender and Bid Workshop

The Zambian Government, through the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development in North-Western Province, has applauded Kansanshi Mining PLC for hosting a Tender and Bid Workshop designed to enhance the capacity of local suppliers and contractors.

Speaking at the closing session, North-Western Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Luckson Mulumbi underscored the critical role of local content development in strengthening Zambia’s mining value chain.

He reaffirmed Government’s commitment to maintaining a stable, investor-friendly environment while ensuring that Zambians derive tangible benefits from the country’s mineral resources.

Mulumbi urged contractors and suppliers to comply fully with established procurement procedures and regulatory requirements, emphasising that adherence to standards is essential for sustainable business growth and regional economic development.

He further encouraged local enterprises to capitalise on opportunities within the mining sector by building technical expertise, strengthening financial management systems, and upholding rigorous safety and environmental standards.

The workshop offered practical guidance on Kansanshi Mine’s tendering framework, evaluation processes and compliance expectations.

It also created a collaborative platform for dialogue between mining companies, government agencies, financial institutions and local businesses.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were Solwezi Mayor Remmy Kalepa and the President of the North-Western Province Chamber of Commerce, alongside representatives from Kansanshi Mine and other key stakeholders.

The initiative reflects growing efforts to deepen local participation in Zambia’s mining industry while reinforcing transparency, competitiveness and long-term economic inclusion.
